The goal of My Wedding Bag is to provide one place where brides can obtain highly qualified vendors, products, services, and advice to make the wedding of their dreams come true. My Wedding Bag is part of the Wedding Professionals of Southeastern Virginia (WPSV) organization, and is also Weddingwire Rated.
My first exposure in the wedding industry was almost six years ago when I started planning my own dream day. The first florist told me my ceremony decorations were going to cost me $10,000, and this was with silk flowers. I think she wanted me to finance some major purchase for her business or something. My fiancee was with me and I saw sweat beads form on his head immediately when she gave us the price. I smiled and thanked her for the time she spent putting together samples, but it just wasn't within my price range. I heard a loud sigh of relief from you know who, when I gave my response.
After leaving that establishment, it was my mission to find someone to do what I wanted at a reasonable rate. After doing a million Google searches pricing things out, I met with several other decorators, and finally settled on one. After everything was said and done, I was able to do my entire wedding for about $12,000. This included the exact flower arrangement I originally wanted.
From that moment on, I took every opportunity to tell brides all the ways I was able to save and still have an unforgettable wedding. When I began to assist my husband with his wedding videography business, I found myself helping brides with other aspects of their wedding. Some of them didn't have actual coordinators on their wedding day so I would assist in making sure everything ran smoothly. I treated every wedding as if it were my own and did all that I could to make the day effortless for the bride. It was the many "thank you"s and my own personal happiness I got from helping, that My Wedding Bag was birthed.
My professional experience encompasses 11 years of work in a Fortune 10 company in sales, customer services, and project management. My degrees in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, and Communications assist me in the negotiation and organization of the vendors and suppliers used by My Wedding Bag.
